Broda, Casimir John – May 11, 1929 – December 28, 2016 entered eternal rest at the Kamsack Hospital at the age of 87, with his family at his side.

Cas was born to parents Joe and Sophie Broda (nee Suwala) in Goodeve, Saskatchewan. The family eventually moved and settled north of Kamsack on a farm in the St. Philips District where Cas attended school and helped with the family farm.

At age 18, he headed east and spent many years working in northern Ontario cutting logs in bush camps.

Cas met Marie Kerluke and they were married on November 6, 1952 – a loving marriage that lasted 64 years.

Cas was the founder of Broda Construction and he bought his first truck in 1957. His pursuit to operate a successful and honest business took him to many parts of the country as the business grew. He groomed many business friendships that have lasted a lifetime. He retired from the business in 2004.

One of Cas’ passions was the family farm. Over time, he acquired more and more farm land and he loved nothing more than to spend a day at the farm, on the tractor cultivating the land. (This was much better than golfing or fishing in his mind).

Over the years, Cas has always been a strong community supporter and leader. His strong passion to give back lasted throughout his entire life span. He has received many awards, honours and distinctions, with the most notable being a recipient of the Saskatchewan Order of Merit in 2009.

Cas’ dedication to his Catholic Faith was strong and undeniable. Cas was a long standing Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. There were many private and quiet causes that were supported by Cas and Marie over the years. His passion for the grotto in Rama, Saskatchewan and for St. Michael's Camp at Madge Lake, Saskatchewan are just two examples of his efforts to build reminders, that would be long lasting and help keep the Catholic Faith present in our lives. He wanted to share his faith with everyone who wanted to experience it.

Cas was a man that made a lasting impression on those who knew him. He was strong and determined and bore an influence on everyone around him. He used his time on earth well – he accomplished many things and he believed in making a difference. He has made the world a better place.

Cas will never be forgotten and will be dearly missed. In true Cas style, he fought hard to stay with us for as long as he could before he found peace.

Cas is survived by his loving wife Marie, his three children Gordie (Barbara), Shannon (Bradley) and Robbie (Colleen), his eight grandchildren Noelle, Joel (Blaire), Sash, Taylor (Stephanie), Brianna, Jake, Taryn, and Aidan, his one great grandchild Zayla, his sisters Rosaline, Josephine, Helen and Adeline (Emmanuel), his brothers Ed (Nancy) and Louie, and by his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cas was predeceased by his parents Joe and Sophie Broda, his sister Mary and his brother Ray.

Prayer service will be held Monday, January 2, 2017 at 7pm from the O.C.C. Hall, (407 Park Street West) in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1:00pm from St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, (402 3rd St.) Kamsack, Saskatchewan. Friends who so desire may make memorial contributions to the Kamsack Hospital Ladies Axillary or to Mass Offerings as tokens of remembrance.
