Burback, Cecelia October 4, 1923 – January 1, 2015, aged 91 years, was born to Walter and Mary Mulroy at Runnymede, Sask. On January 29, 1940 she married Albert Burback and began her life as a farm wife in the Runnymede district. Albert and Cecelia had seven children and continued to farm until 2000 when they retired to Kamsack, Sask. On the family farm Cecelia had many duties—milking cows, raising livestock and poultry, gardening and canning, helping with the harvest, sewing the family clothing and cooking for the hired men—all while raising the children without the benefits of electricity. Talk about multiple-tasking. She was one of those amazing prairie women. She did not go out much but loved to have company come to visit and one would never leave without having consumed enough food to last you the whole day. Cecelia loved to bake. The local kids would make sure to drop by for a thick slice of bread slathered with butter and jam. She continued to garden always wearing her infamous red cap, process her produce, bake and sew well into her retirement. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were one of her greatest joys. She was always happy to hear of their latest accomplishments or the expected date of their next visit. Cecelia had a very straightforward and realistic philosophy on life. When confronted with difficult situations in life she would be known to comment “it’s just another day- we’ll get through it”.

Cecelia is survived by her sons, Daniel Burback of Victoria, B.C., Delbert (Betty) Burback of Togo, Sask., Kenneth (Twyla) Burback of Edmonton, Alta., daughters, Donna (Martin Arndt) Sniher of Saskatoon, Sask., Della (Ivan) Peever of Saskatoon, Sask., Karen Leis of Runnymede, Sask., brother Jim Mulroy of Sudbury, Ont., Grandchildren, Loralee (Tony) Smith, Dana Markenstein, Misty (Trevor) Isaac, Allison (Brent) Sniher, Tara (Jeff) Bloski, Chad (Willette) Burback, Trevor Burback, Trent (Crystal) Leis, Kyla (John) Mines, Curtis (Leagh) Peever, Greg Peever; Great-grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Jay Isaac, Josh Burback, Kalan Burback, Damon Burback, Victoria Burback, Domonic Burback, Shelby Leis, Austin Leis, Bennett Bloski, Brooke Bloski, Madison Mines, Alexandria Mines and Abigail Mines.

Cecelia was predeceased by her parents, her husband Albert; one son Allan; son-in-law Lorne Sniher; son-in-law Clarence Pfeifer; brothers Pat, John, Joe, Walter and Mick; sisters Dorothy Lupichuk, Annie Short and Marie Hammel.
