Marie Rebalkin

   With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Marie Rebalkin on Valentine’s Day at Eaglestone Lodge in Kamsack, Saskatchewan.

   Marie was pre-deceased by her husband Mike, parents Maksim and Olga Kowaluk, brother Walter (in infancy), sisters Vera Hrabchak and Rosalie Kowaluk and brother-in-law Jim Neiles.

   Left to cherish her memory are her loving sisters Ludmila Neiles, Riana Harvey and Valerie Turner (Glen), brother-in-law Arnold Hrabchak, “one and only” niece Debra, and nephews Kevin, Scott , Ken, Billy, Chris and Eric and their families.

   Marie was born on the family farm near Arran, Saskatchewan and attended Vesna and Arran Schools.  Teaching was a huge part of her life for 47 years with most of those years spent in a Grade 3 classroom.  Marie was an excellent and caring teacher and was well-loved by both her students and their families.  She was always generous with her time and her hugs.  It brought her great joy to see her “little Grade 3s” all grown up with families of their own many of whom provided her with care and visits at the Lodge.

   The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Eaglestone Lodge for the exemplary care they provided and for ensuring that Marie’s final wishes were fulfilled.  Sincere thanks also to Lorraine Barabash, a true and caring friend who provided support not only to Marie but also to her family in Winnipeg.

   In accordance with Marie’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack, Saskatchewan in the summer of 2015.  A later notice will be published with the date and time of this service.
