HARPER, Martha Jeanette (nee Strom) born December 13, 1941 – April 11, 2016 aged 74 years. Martha was born in Wadena, Sk. to parents Leonard and Cora (nee Muns) Strom. She was the youngest of seven children. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family after battling cancer for four and half years. She put up a good fight, always thought positive. She attended West Port School, west of her father’s farm outside of Wadena up to grade 8. She moved to Togo where she lived with her sister, Rose and George Airriess to continue her education up to grade 11. Martha was involved in 4-H and curling.
On September 16, 1961, Martha married Herbert Frank Harper at the All Saints Anglican Church in Togo. Together they raised five children; Edith, Karen, Patricia, Norma and William.
Martha caring personality lead her to a fourteen year career as a homecare aid. She shared her passion and passed on her cooking, baking, gardening, sewing and 4-H skills to her children and was very proud of each of them. She loved traveling with Herb and spending time having coffee with her family and friends. Martha was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend her kindness and sense of humor will be missed.
Martha is predeceased by her parents; Leonard and Cora brother Vernon, sisters Agnes Clarkson and Edna Mankow, half-sister Easter, daughter Edith, niece Sarah, nephew Frank, and brother-in-law George, She is survived by her husband Herb, children Karen (Edwin) Antony, Kathleen (Chris), Amanda (Adam), Patricia Harper, Norma (Brian) Harper and William (Cherie) sisters; Doreen Hack and Rose Airriess grandchildren; Kathleen (Chris), Amanda (Adam), Caitlyn (Dylan), Morgan (Theron), Brayden, Jherico, Jax, Kaylie; son-in-law Marlin Fatteicher and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service was held on April 19, 2016 from the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Kamsack, SK., interment followed at Togo Community Cemetery, Togo, SK., with Rev. Nancy Brunt officiating.
