Pat Berezowski

   Berezowski, Patricia Geraldine Rosalind (nee Andres) April 8, 1934 – September 7, 2015, aged 81 years,  was born on her family farm in the MacNutt/Landestreu  area on to Jacob Andres and Lydia Andres (nee Baumung).  Pat was the second child and only girl in a trio of siblings; the elder brother Kenneth and younger brother Gerald. Pat was raised and received her schooling in MacNutt and went on to secretarial college in Yorkton. In 1952, Pat had relocated to Kamsack from MacNutt, Saskatchewan for an administrative support position with the Kamsack School Unit. She quickly developed a circle of friends, many whom have lasted lifelong, one of them being Eddie Berezowski, the younger brother of her future husband Melvin Berezowski who had just returned from his military service a year earlier.  Their first meeting was at the wedding of Peggy and Eugene Kinasevich for which Mel was the Best Man. He was dating one of the bridesmaids at the time but as Pat put it, by midnight she had put an end to that and the rest was history!  In September of 1955 Pat and Mel were married at the MacNutt Lutheran Church, then making their home in Kamsack. In March of 1963, to their great joy, Mel and Pat brought home Murray Brian, bringing their family ranks to three. In June of 1966 they added to their ranks with Gregory Allen, rounding the numbers in the family to four.

   Pat worked for many years in a wide capacity for the Parkland Community College. She was very committed to helping people further their education in Kamsack and district. Pat enjoyed many sports and foremost in the list were curling and golf and cross-country skiing.  She volunteered extensively for Minor Hockey, Kamsack Figure Skating Club, United Church & Legion Ladies Auxiliaries in many capacities from chief cook and bottle washer to being the president of said associations.  She never said "no" when a community effort was needed and did not shy away from being in a leadership role when necessary.  She enjoyed many a bonspiel with curling, always looking forward to the Legion Bonspiel as a highlight of the long and generally severe winters of Kamsack.  Though the golf season was short, she enjoyed getting out a few times a week and became a proficient golfer and even collected a number of prizes from tournaments she had entered. Pat was also part of the United Church and Kamsack Community Choirs.  She very much enjoyed the musical challenges as singing was a great joy to her.  The camaraderie of the groups and the community spirit which they engendered were very important to her.

   In July of 1989, Mel retired from the CNR and opened his schedule for Pat and himself to travel, golf, curl and generally relax.  They settled into a comfortable retirement in Kamsack until they moved to Alberta in 2010 to be closer to their children and their respective families.  Their 60th wedding anniversary would have been this past September 2nd.

   Pat was predeceased by Melvin, her husband of 59 years, and leaves behind her son Murray (Laurie), her son Greg (Trevor), her three grandchildren, Meaghan (John), Brooke, Jordan, and her great granddaughter Zosia. She will be always remembered and forever missed.
