   Richard was born to Henry and Lorna Langan in Cote First Nation. He received his Grade 12 education from Lebret (QIRS), and later went on to obtain his SIAST Business Diploma. He worked as carpenter, fruit picker, store manager, Band Councillor, School Board Trustee,
Canadian army cadets, militia, air force, army reserve
His biggest passion was music (Elvis), exercising, fishing, hunting, playing pool and Skip Bo.

   Richard was predeceased by his parents Senator Henry Joseph Langan and mother Lorna Netty Genaille (nee Cote), step-dad Pete Genaille, step-mom Marion Dorothy Langan (nee Pelly), brothers; Randy, Garry, Walter, Donald, Jerry, Henry Jr, Albert, Leslie, Lawrence, Louis, Noel, adopted brother James, sisters Evelyn, Jaqueline, Emmaline, Barbara, daughter Melody Lynn, sons, Richard (Jude), Ernest Dean, grandson Mason Garfield, granddaughter Charly, grandson Niko, ex-wives Mary Thoreen Sylvia Severight, Carmen Severight.

   Richard is survived by his children, Ruby, Caesar, Alicia, Nakita, Juanita, John Friday, grandchildren, Billy, Alexis, Nika, Amaya, Angel, Ruger, Star, Jagr, Jroq, Jude, Jade, Kayla, Ernest, Kylie, Jarius, Cadence, Phoenix, Farrah, great grandchildren Zaylen, Aliah-Grace, Jagr II, Dawson, Hollie, brothers Murphy, Byron, Darrell, Abe, adopted brother Bobby Cote, sisters Lorraine, Joanne, step sister Mabel Cote, and estranged wife, Genevieve.
