Sandra (Sandy) Nykolaishen Obituary

Sandra Gwen Nykolaishen:  February 9, 1957 – January 29, 2024 Age 66

We are all stories in the end, remembered by the adventures we had, our achievements and the people we loved – Nishan Panwar. Family was the center of Sandy’s world. Daughter to Adeline and George, sister to Ronald (Theresa), Allan and Darryl, mother to me, Jamie, grandma to Mary and Katey and aunty Sandy to all her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friend’s children. She was one of the most conciliatory, loving, caring, and supportive individuals you could ever meet. Anyone that knows her, knows you could always count on Sandy. She would and did until the end put me, Mary and Katey at the forefront of her world right until the untimely moment of her death.  We were lucky to have a week of fun in the sun with each other, laughing, swimming and spending time together before she passed.

Sandy was an entrepreneur, she was co-owner of Adam & Eve, a clothing business for 28 years. After that she began working with her family’s business doing accounting until she passed. Her community was extremely important to her, she was very generous with her time, from Kamsack Chamber of Commerce, member of small business loans committee,  treasurer of the skating club, rink management board, member of town council, many clubs (everything that I was involved in), playing the piano in church, board member at the church, golf course, Friends of Madge Lake and so many more. All you had to do was ask and she would help.

Not only did she work behind the scenes, she participated in the skating carnival’s kick line, aqua size, community choir and most lately you would find her playing cards and games with her lake group, playing or hosting Mahjong or Bunko, golfing with the Madge Lake Morning Mother’s, Rumoli at the Legion and always at Mary and Katey’s games or concerts.

The other morning Katey, Mary and I were talking about how much we miss her and wish we could see her again one last time, to talk to her, tell her how much we love her and hug her but we realize one more time would never be enough. We were so lucky to have such an amazing mom and grandma. We will forever remember her and miss her. Please help us to remember Sandy and the amazing woman she was by sharing your memories.

Sandy was predeceased by her grandparents, Steve and Helen Nykolaishen, Paul and Mary Wosminity, her father George Nykolaishen.

A memorial service will be held Friday May 31, 2024 at 2:30pm at Westminster Memorial United Church, Kamsack.
