Delmar Reilkoff Obituary

“Big D”, as he was fondly known to some, was born to Michael and Virginia (nee: Kalmakoff) Reilkoff.  Three siblings were later added to complete the Reilkoff family: Sidney, Shirli and Myra.  Together, they grew up on the farm and eventually moved to Veregin, SK.  Del attended school in Veregin and later in Kamsack, at KCI, until grade 10. He graduated from the school of hard knocks.  After his schooling was finished, he travelled throughout Canada and the USA. During this time, Del acquired many stories and wisdom that he would later share with his children.
He came home to farm in the early ‘70s with his dad and later his brother, Sidney.  On November 29, 1975, Del married the love of his life, Terri Laevens.  Together they had three children: Scott in 1977, Miranda in 1983, and Cara in 1984.  These family years were spent at the lake, in the hockey rink and at the baseball diamonds. Del had many passions in his life: playing cards, farming, fishing, sports, music, good food, good friends, his children and his grandchildren.  History and genealogy were something Del enjoyed learning about and sharing.  He created a Veregin and Area Memories group through Facebook and loved the memories, pictures and conversations that were shared through its many members.
Del will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Terri; son, Scott (Laura); daughters: Miranda (Christopher) Leis; and Cara (Deven) Shabatoski; as well as, his pride and joy: grandkids: Carter, Tanner and Anna Reilkoff; Bryden and Jayden Leis; Liam, Preston, Brynn and Tess Shabatoski; his siblings: Sidney (Debbie) Reilkoff; Shirli (Gord) Collinge; Myra (Larry) Rafford; as well as his brother and sister-in-laws; nieces; nephews; cousins; and numerous family and friends. Del was predeceased by: his parents, Michael and Virginia Reilkoff; mother and father-in-law, Leslie and Kathleen Laevens; sister-in-law, Jackie Krushkowski; and his special puppy, Tuffy.
