Elaine Stensrud

Elaine Stensrud (nee: Berezowski) was born November 8, 1943 in Kamsack, Sk. to John and Mary Berezowski.  Elaine attended school in Kamsack – a fond memory was being named “Queen of Hearts” at Assiniboine School. 

Elaine moved to Yorkton and worked as a waitress at the Holiday Inn.  She met Vic Stensrud and they married in 1965.  They resided in Yorkton for a few years before moving to Manitoba for Vic’s work.  They eventually settled back in Kamsack. 

Elaine worked at Jack Davies’ Rexall Drugs, and went on to work at Bill Verabioff’s Price Watchers Drug Store.  As life sometimes goes, Elaine and Vic parted ways.  Later in life she settled in Mikado, Sk. with Pete Reiben and opened up “Elaine’s Place” – a gas station and convenience store.  Elaine loved her neighbors and community in Mikado and Canora.

After Pete had passed, Elaine moved back to Kamsack to Davies Towers.  After some health issues, Elaine later moved to the Eaglestone Lodge in 2017.  In January 2019, she moved to the Kamsack & District Nursing Home where she passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on March 12, 2019 at the age of 75.

Elaine is predeceased by her partner Pete Rieben, parents John and Mary Berezowksi, her sisters Helen (John) Kurenoff and Elsie (Fern) Thibadeau, and her brothers Andy (Ida) Bowlin and John (Lena) Bowlin, niece Theresa Eaves, and nephew Peter Stoiko.

Elaine is survived by her loving sister Olga (Walter) Rezansoff, and many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and grand nephews.
