Helen Lesiuk Obituary

Lesiuk, Helen (nee Trofimenkoff) - December 13, 1936 – October 1, 2018. It is with great sadness that we announce passing of our dedicated wife, mother and grandmother at the Kamsack Hospital, at the age of 81 years. Growing up she was raised in Runnymede, Sk., and often commented “it was the best place in the world to grow up”.  She was taught strong work ethics from living on a farm and doing lots of daily chores. She would reminisce of FUN times like corn or potato roasts with friends and family. She was active in sports.  Helen completed grade 8 at Runnydale School and grades 9 and 10 by correspondence at home.  Helen moved to Kamsack, to work at Eaton’s catalogue store. She met and later married Walter Lesiuk on April 26, 1957. Together, they had two children, Debbie and Brent. Helen enjoyed gardening, curling, camping, fishing and golfing.  She took pride in everything she did. Helen belonged to Westminster United Church Auxiliary, assisted at the Trackside Gardens and was an active member of Kamsack Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years. Helping to raise funds for the medical needs of the community including blue curtains in patient rooms, pots for the hospital kitchen and a “Palliative Care Room”, for families to be near their loved ones. (which our family greatly appreciated during her stay at hospital). In 2010, she had a hip surgery with complications which effected her mobility. Although through the years, she continued to do her best, saying “I need to keep moving”.

She is survived by her loving husband and fishing partner, Walter, children Brent (Zoya), Debbie (Doug) Lapitsky, grandchildren Chris and Kevin, brother Tom (Irma) Trofimenkoff, sister Lena Fry, brother in law Metro Lesiuk and sister in law Doris Fedorak and many nieces and nephews.

Helen is predeceased by her parents, William & Ann Trofimenkoff, brother Wally Trofimenkoff, brother in laws Jay Fry & Russ Fedorak and sister in law Joy Lesiuk.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes a Funeral Service will be held at a later date.  Those who so wish to donate in memory of Helen can do so to the Kamsack Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. To leave a note of condolence for the family please visit Wolkowski.ca.
