GETTY, Irene Edna born January 10, 1938 – June 22, 2017 aged 79 years. Irene was born in Rabbit Lake, Sk., to parents George and Justine (nee Bergen) Hilderbrand. She received her education and remained in Denholm, Sk., until she met Hewitt Getty; who at the time was hauling gravel in the area. On February 29, 1959 they were married and Irene moved to the family farm located near Pelly, Sk. Together, her and Hewitt raised two sons Rob and Tom. Irene worked at an insurance agency, a restaurant and later owned Getty’s General Store in Pelly. She was active in the community volunteering her time at local events. In her spare time she always enjoyed playing bingo. Hewitt and Irene enjoyed traveling to California, Florida and B.C. to see the sights and visit family and friends Herb and John.
A Memorial Service was held on July 4, 2017 at Pelly Community Hall with Velda Dahlin officiating with interment at Maloneck Cemetery, Pelly District.
