Medvid, Marion Evelyn (nee Haselwood) Medvid born May 12, 1949 to June 4, 2017 aged 68 years.  Marion passed away peacefully at Jowsey House in Yorkton, Sk., she went to be with her Lord. She was the 5th child to parents, Burt and Violet (nee McMillian) Hesselwood. Marion grew up in and around Austin, MB. At the age of 15 she left home to a start her cooking career that lasted over 50 years. She was cooking in a restaurant when a CPR crew came through town. Michael couldn't resist her good looks and sharp wit. He asked her out on a date which started a relationship that lasted over 55 years. After some coaxing she went to work cooking for that crew. For the next few years she traveled all over western Canada, cooking out of a cook car on the tracks. On July 2, 1966 she married Michael Medvid at St Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton, SK. Two days later they moved in to their first home in Dryden Ont. Working for the railroad was always an adventure and they ended up moving 24 times in two years. Her spirit and work ethic stayed with her entire life.

In 1972, they started farming together. They worked side by side for 17 years raising 4 sons. During that time she did any job that needed doing from driving a tractor or combine, milking cows every morning, fixing buildings and she usual had a baby on her hip while doing it. Through all of that she took what spare time she had and would focus on knitting works of art. She loved making gifts for the people she loved and cared for. After farming she returned to cooking at various restaurants and road construction crews for 10 years until her retirement. She had a tough time with retirement thinking she still had lots to do. In November of 2016, she got the news that her body wasn’t keeping up with her spirit anymore she went home and finished a few more sweaters.

Survived by her loving husband of 51 years Michael Medvid, four sons; Kenny (Lori) of Ketchikan Alaska and grandson, Noah Williams of Anchorage Alaska, Paul (Marge) and grandchildren, Shaine and Tessa of Lethbridge AB., David (Donna) and grandchildren, Grace and Nick of Canora, Kevin (Amanda) and grandchildren, Sara and Tony of Yorkton brother, Doug (Shirley) Hesselwood, Janice (Dennis) Weber and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her infant son, parents Bert and Violet Hesselwood sisters; Gladys Moreu, Marjorie Lussier, Kathleen Jones.
