Mary Derkatch

DERKATCH Mary (nee Hrycyk) born March 6, 1921 – January 11, 2018 aged 96 years.   Mary was born to parents, Mike and Ann Hrycyk (nee Klimchuk) in the Donwell District, Sk.  As a young woman she worked on various farms milking cows, stukking and helping out any way she could.  Along her way, she crossed paths with Joseph Derkatch and were married on June 24, 1945.  Together they raised two sons; Edwin and Ross on the family farm near Playmore Road. She kept her hands busy by tending to the flower and vegetable gardens, raising geese, chickens and selling eggs.  Joseph passed away in 2001, she then moved to Kamsack. 

                Mary loved playing cards, she enjoyed watching curling and knew all the players that played on the Toronto Blue Jays team.  She had a special soft spot her cats and dogs.   

                Mary is predeceased by her parents; Mike and Ann husband Joseph, son at infancy brothers; Steve and Bill sister, Vicky Hetner and brother-in-law Steve Hetner.

                Mary is survived by her sons; Ross and Edwin (Vicki), grandchildren Heather and Amber (Darcy), two great grandchildren; Jeline (Matthew) and Dryden, one great grandchild, Knox Richard sisters; Adeline and Cecilia and nieces and nephews.

                Funeral Service was held January 17, 2018 from the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Kamsack with Rev. Kevin Sprong officiating with interment at Riverview Cemetery, Kamsack, Sk.
