Steve Kinaschuk

KINASCHUK, Stephen Andrew born August 22, 1924 – August 3, 2018 aged 93 years.

Steve grew up on the family farm in the Arran district.  He went to Arran school and eventually farmed on the family farm.   Steve lived and farmed with his life partner, Margaret Ray until October 1996, when they purchased a home in Pelly, Sk.  After Margaret passing in April 1997, Steve continued to live in Pelly.  He took part in many activities in Pelly, especially at the Happy Hearts Drop-in Centre.  Steve loved to sing and dance.   Steve and Margaret travelled to Fort McMurrary to visit Margaret daughter, Kathy.  They also took trips to B.C. to visit his sisters and their families.  Steve became very close to Margaret’s daughter, Kathy after Margaret passed.  They spent time together taking care of one another.  After Kathy passed in 2008, Steve continued to live in Pelly until 2015, when he moved to Norquay Health Centre. He still danced and sang to all the residents.  He was a counselor for the R.M. of Livingston and on the board of the Kamsack District Nursing Home. Steve’s passion for life was his family and his farm.

          Steve is survived by his sister Betty Kinaschuk, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.  Steve is pre-deceased by his parents Andrew and Anna (nee Lylyk), wife Margaret, daughter Kathy Ray, brother John, nieces Sheila Jonson, Joyce Browne and Merle Maximuik, nephews John Soltys and Terry Soltys.

          Funeral Service was held August 8, 2018 from the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service – Kamsack, Sk. With Rev. Father Michael Faryna, Rev. Father Gene Maximiuk and Rev. Father Evan Maximiuk officiating.  Interment was held at Riverview Cemetery, Kamsack, SK. To leave a note of condolence for the family please visit wolkowski.ca
