Ann Vogel Obituary

VOGEL Ann Born May 15, 1935 – April 23, 2026 aged 90 years
Mom entered eternal rest on April 23, 2026 at the Norquay Health Centre with her children by her side.  Mom was born May 15, 1935 to John and Bessie Lylyk in the Arran district.  She attended school in the Arran district until she met Ed Vogel.  Ed and Ann were married at St. Philips Roman Catholic Church August 29, 1953.  They moved to a farm south of Pelly where they had a mixed farm.  Here they raised three children; Bernie, Lorne and Holly.   They continued farming until Ed’s passing in 1992. Mom remained on the farm until December of 2025, when health issues caused her to be hospitalized.
Mom loved the farm and she was very active in all aspects of it.  She drove school bus for twenty two years because it still allowed her to tend to the farm. They raised cattle, pigs, chickens, geese and milked many cows, and raised crops as well.  Mom wasn’t afraid to work.  From caring for the animals to running any piece of equipment, she was always the person for the job.  She loved the farm immensely and when the field days got limited, she turned more attention to her garden.  She had the cleanest, most productive garden in the area.
She loved company and fed everyone that visited her with her baking.  Over the years she kept everyone stocked up with potatoes, borscht and perogies.  She liked to be busy. Besides babysitting my dogs over the years, feeding us all, she was an avid knitter and crocheter.  She often got annoyed when I asked her what the difference was between the two.  I think I can speak for us all in the family that we each have at least 1 afghan that was made with love by her.  Mom also loved curling, she enjoyed the sport, the people and the interaction with everyone.  She lived for the winters and the company of her team mates.  There is a picture of her when her team scored a very rare 8-ender!
I will explain the puff wheat cake that is set before us:  Mom made the best pies and poppyroll and the tallest chiffon cakes, but after numerous attempts, could not make a puff wheat cake which she absolutely loved.  I came out way ahead because we traded a puff wheat cake for borscht, perogies or noodles.  That was her kind heart at work again.
Anne is predeceased by her parents John and Bessie, husband, Edward, son Lorne, brother Dan Lylyk, sister Mary Yaworski, daughter-in-law Karen Vogel.
She is survived by her son Bernie, daughter Holly (Dan), grandchildren Neil, Jordan (Lori), Andrea (Tyson), Tyson (Trish) and Justin and Ann’s special fur friend Breezy.
We can go on and on about the wonderful person she was and her huge love for her family. Until we meet again, we Love you, Mom.  You will be and already are very gratefully missed.
