Annie was born on October 12, 1931 to Karl and Dora Prystay in the Hyas district where they had a homestead. The family later moved to the original homestead of moms parents (Karl and Dora) north of Buchanan in the Olesha district. In 1943 the family moved temporarily to Ontario and then returned back a few years later to the family farm in Olesha.
In August of 1952 mom married Metro (Jim) Kinaschuk and together farmed north of Arran, they were blessed with four children.
While on the farm mom also worked at the McRory Apiaries north of Benito as well selling fresh farm cream and eggs to family and friends in Arran.
In 1983, they sold the farm retired and moved to Arran. Mom worked at the RM Office and Credit Union cleaning the offices. Mom was very involved with the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Arran enjoyed cooking for weddings and Fall Suppers and many other functions for the church that was being held at the Arran Hall.
In 2011, they moved to Benito, MB where they continued to enjoy the company of family and friends. The joy of anyone that mom could challenge in a game of Hola mom’s favorite card game and would just laugh when she managed to skunk them. Mom loved the visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren everyone just waiting for her perogies, homemade bread and baking that she would send as care packages.
After dad’s passing in September of 2021, we moved mom to the Kamsack & District Nursing Home where she made new friendships and enjoyed the activities especially bingo and listening to the Ukrainian bands that entertained the residents. And of course a game of Hola she was so happy that staff or residents would join her in a game.
Annie was predeceased by her husband Metro (Jim), her son Dennis, grandsons Jason Kinaschuk and Darren Dorosh; son-in-law David Panagabko, parents Karl and Dora Prystay her brother Bill and a brother Michael in infancy; her twin sisters Stella Krochak and Helen Woicichowski and sister Polly Dykun.
