Ardis Irvine

Ardis Irvine Obituary

     Ardis was born in the Saskatoon City Hospital and later graduated from grade 12, June 27, 1952. From there, Ardis, followed her dreams and graduated from Kelsey Canadian Vocational Training program as a Nursing Assistant, on February 10, 1956. One of Ardis’ first nursing assistant positions was in Elrose, Saskatchewan. During this time, she met Floyd Irvine and together they were married May 4, 1957. In May 1961, Ardis and Floyd moved to Kamsack, to begin their life together. After their first child was born, Ardis took on the job as house wife and raising their 3 children. For many years, Ardis enjoyed being a part of the community.  She gave her time and supported service groups, charities and service clubs. She enjoyed photography, curling, country music, and farmer’s markets, dogs, cats. She had many a pet though the years. She was past-president and member of Kamsack Curling Club, assisted in annual fall suppers at the United Church, secretary for the Boy Scouts, secretary of the Kamsack Recreation Committee and long-time member of the Royal Purple in Kamsack. Ardis is fondly remembered by many, for her caring and nurturing of young child in Kamsack and area. Ardis babysat children in her home for nearly 40 years and it was not uncommon to see Ardis walking back from the school with a gaggle of little children. Ardis was a country music fanatic. She loved her country music, especially Dolly Parton but also some of the new acts as well. For many years, Ardis was a Dauphin Country Fest regular, and very often sat in the front row singing and listening along to the performers performs on stage. Ardis did have hardships through her lifetime, but she never let them change the person she was. She beat cancer and found her birth mother after many years of searching. 
     Ardis is survived by her son; Craig (Michelle) and their children; Cassidy and Chloe, her daughter; Catherine Martin and her children Jennifer, Stacy (Kurt) and Daniel, her son; Bobbi’s daughter's; Terri-Ann (Darcy) Lepowick; Ardis’ great grandchildren; Corban, Luke, Rowen, Hayley, Dylan, Dominic. 
     Ardis is predeceased by her parents; William and Marie Shanks; birthmother Cora Hamre, husband Floyd and son Bobbi.
