Evangeline (Vangy) Wolkowski

Evangeline (Vangy) Marilyn WOLKOWSKI - July 27, 1944 - April 7, 2022 entered into eternal rest at the Canora Hospital, at the age of 77 years. Vangy, as she was fondly known as, was born in Canora to parents Bill and Anne Wasylowich (nee Unick).

Vangy was raised in Buchanan with her 4 siblings and parents Bill and Anne, who owned and operated the Buchanan Café for a number of years. In her early years, Vangy helped out at the family restaurant and then began working at the local Lucky Dollar grocery store as well as painting homes for numerous local residents while helping out at the family farm.  Vangy met Ernie Wolkowski at a social gathering in Buchanan and they were married on September 28, 1963. They were blessed with 6 children. Vangy was an avid participant/volunteer/coach at numerous community events supporting her children's abundant activities whether it be school trips or sporting events.  Vangy had a passion for curling, softball, fishing, gardening, playing cards, farming, cooking, canning, picking wild mushrooms / berries and was very giving of her bountiful crops.  Vangy and Ernie enjoyed travelling to various destination in central and western Canada visiting their children and grandchildren, as well as numerous trips to Reno, Vegas, and Mesa.

In keeping with Vangy's dislike of winter funerals, a service will be held on June 3, 2022 with details to follow.

She is survived by her 6 children; Wayne, Beverly, Dale, Christine, Dennis and Wynn, 12 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren, sisters Linda Gray and Joanne Lindgren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who became her family

Vangy is predeceased by her husband Ernie, parents Bill and Anne Wasylowich, brother Alfred Wasylowich, sister Audrey Wionzek.  Friends who so desire may make memorial donations to The Buchanan Community Centre, Buchanan, Sask. To leave a note of condolence to the family, please visit Wolkowski.ca
