James passed away peacefully at home on September 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Born February 5, 1968, to James and Gail Poirier, James lived a life filled with passion, dedication, and love for his family and friends.
A journeyman mechanic by trade, James had a natural talent and love for working with his hands. He owned and operated his own garage in Nova Scotia, where he built a reputation for skills, honesty, and care for his customers. In 2006, James moved out west and continued his career in the automotive industry. With his final years spent at Kreg's Auto in Kamsack, SK where he was employed by Kenny. Over time, their work relationship grew into a relationship that James truly valued.
James had a particular love for Chevy trucks and classic vehicles. His specialty was rebuilding transmissions, something he was truly gifted at and deeply enjoyed. His passion for square-body Chevy trucks was more than a career; it was a passion that reflected his patience, determination, and attention to detail. It was a source of joy, and something he loved sharing with those around him. James often shared his skills outside of work, helping family and friends whenever their vehicles broke down. Helping others was simply part of who he was, and one of the many ways he showed his love and care for those around him.
James's greatest joy came in 2010, when he married Wanda, the love of his life, and together, they built a life of love and adventures. Whether traveling, exploring, or simply enjoying each other’s company, James and Wanda embraced every opportunity to create memories. In 2025, before his passing, they fulfilled a dream of traveling to the East Coast to spend precious time with family and friends, and then journeyed all the way to the West Coast, Vancouver Island, where they discovered a deep love for the ocean and the beauty of the West Coast. Those final adventures together will be treasured forever.
James was a loving stepfather to Boyd (Emily), Lonnie (Jenn), and Dustin, and a proud grandfather to Braden, Marisa, Kaden, Ava, Preston, Zander, Aria, and Scarlett, who brought him joy and who will carry forward his memory with love. He is also survived by his siblings: Mike (Michelle), Craig (Lainie), Crystal, Natasha (Allan). He was cherished by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family, and friends.
James was predeceased by his parents, James and Gail; grandparents; brother Jeffery; several aunts and uncles; mother-in-law, Doreen Sivertson; sister-in-law, Gailene Pasiechnik; and brother, Jeffery.
Those who knew James will remember his infectious laughter, the kind of laugh that would fill a room and make everyone join in, whether they knew the joke or not. He loved life, adventure, and sharing his passions with others.
In keeping with James's wishes, no formal service will be held. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
