James (Jim) Harris Obituary

Harris, James (Jim) Thomas, April 19, 1936 – January 22, 2021, entered into rest, peacefully at the Norquay Health Center on January 22, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

Jim was born on the farm at Allanville, Saskatchewan, to Thomas and Margaret (Laycock) Harris. Jim met and married the love of his life, Emily Meszaros, on June 6, 1960.

Jim, Emily and the Harris Family, moved to Kamsack in 1974, where Jim began work for Broda Construction. A position he held for over 30 years, until his retirement.  He got to know many people during his lifetime, through work, sports, his kids and grandkids.

Jim was very much a family man. He took part in or watched everything his kids and grandkids were involved in.  He always took time for holidays with his family, be it travelling to B.C. or camping at a lake. He loved children whether they were his own, his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or any child he coached or met. Even in his later years, he would get down on the floor and play with them. One of his favorite times of the year was Christmas, when the whole family would come home. He always made sure the Christmas tree was up, decorating it in his own special way. He loved sports of all kinds, whether he was coaching or watching at the rink, the ballfield or on TV. After he retired, he loved to golf and spent many hours on the golf course.

James is survived by his loving wife, Emily of 60 years; his daughter’s Diana and Brenda (Bruce), son Barry (Shelley) ; his sister Evelyn Desrosiers; grandchildren Derek (Joelle), Shauna (Rob), Jennifer (Graeme), Ryan (Melissa), Shaelyn (Ethan) and Chad; great-grandchildren Cooper, Isla, Cashius, Ronan, Carson, several nieces, nephews and will be remembered and missed by the Mezzaros side of the family.

Jim was predeceased by his parents; brother Gordon (Gail), sister Shirley (Walter), brother-in-law Roland; grandson Jeffery; nephews Dwayne and Tommy.

A family service will be held at a later date.  For those who wish to donate in memory of Jim may do so to the Norquay Health Centre (Box 190, Norquay, Saskatchewan S0A 2V0).  To leave a note of condolence for the family please visit wolkowski.ca.
