John Steve Brigidear was born June 22, 1926, the third of four children to Steve and Nettie Brygider (nee Schab) in Dunleath, Saskatchewan. As a child growing up on the farm, John, attended Dunleath and Loyal Scotland Schools. After his grade schooling, he went to school in Regina at GMC, as he had a love for big machines. In 1953, John married June Bradford. Tragedy struck the new couple, just 6 years later, as June passed away in 1959. In 1961, John met and married Dorothy Bradley.
For several years, John’s passion and business was welding. John owned and operated “Brig’s Welding” for several years. Although he spent time welding on the Alberta pipeline, Saskatchewan was always home. John lived most of his life in Tonkin, but did also live in Dunleath, Kessock, Saltcoats.
John was fond of nature and taking scenic drives in the country. He also enjoyed some social time with friends over coffee, often reminiscing of old times. John also liked to travel, weld and “tinker” to help pass time during his retirement.
John is survived by his sister Marie, brother Walter (Olga) and by several nieces, nephews and neighbours. He is predeceased by father Steve in 1983, mother Nettie in 1997, wife June in 1959, wife Dorothy in 2001 and by sister Katherine also in 1983.
