Lawrence Scobie Obituary

      Lawrence James Scobie (Laurie) was born in Russell MB on December 26, 1933, to Robert & Mary (Fulton) Scobie. Laurie was the second youngest of 7 children. They lived in Harrowby MB till the age of 9 when the family moved to Churchbridge in 1942. Laurie lost his Mom at the young age of 12 and was raised by his father and siblings. Ena, Nan, Dave, Mary, Jack and Hugh. Laurie and Bev were childhood sweethearts and were married on June 5, 1953. Together they raised 3 children Ferris, Laurie and Dana. They were married for 71 years. Laurie started work with Sask Power in 1953, being transferred to many communities Churchbridge, Swift Current, Tisdale, Vancouver, Fort Qu’Appelle, Oxbow. In 1961, they settled in Kamsack, where he was the district operator until his retirement.
     Laurie enjoyed and was very active in sports, playing baseball, hockey and golf. He played with and coached the Kamsack Flyers for many years. On August 16, 2003, Laurie and his brother Jack were inducted into the Saskatchewan Hall of Fame with the Holar Baseball Team based out of Tantallon. Laurie had a love for the farm, horses, and cattle, he shared that love with his son Ferris. He loved family gatherings whether at his home, cabin, golf course or the local coffee shop.  Laurie’s love for Beverely had no bounds. And as the years passed the love they shared blossomed into a love everyone in the family hope to have.
Laurie was predeceased by his parents, and his siblings Ena, Nan, Dave, Mary, Jack and Hugh. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Bev, and children Ferris (Linda) Scobie, Laurie (Lorne) Leis, Dana (Perry) Kowall. His grandchildren Teniel (Kirk) Larson, Kelly (Craig) Salahub, Randy (Elissa) Leis, Cory (Tara) Leis, Devin (Miriam) Leis, Jeff Leis, Niki (Goncalo) Leis, Dallas (Delta) Kowall, Kayla (Tony) Partridge and many great-grandchildren Emily, Zachary, Benjamin, William, Carter, Kira, Taya, Lily, Jada, Mya, Lexi, Brielle and Radley and two great-great-grandchildren Gunner and Colton . Two sister-in-laws Sherry Scobie and Eila Scobie, and many nieces and nephews.
