Lorne Reilkoff – born on October 2, 1944; died on August 13, 2024
Lorne Reilkoff, beloved husband of Gwenyth (Gwen) Reilkoff of Saskatoon/Madge Lake, passed away peacefully at the Hospice of Glengarda in Saskatoon at the age of 79 years. Lorne fought a courageous battle with cancer for over a year, never complaining, as he endured all the treatments that were possible.
Lorne was the loving father of daughter Chantelle (Dean) Eisner of Saskatoon and son Rhett(Judith Prado) Reilkoff of Langford, B.C.
Lorne was the proud grandfather of grandson, Jager Eisner, granddaughter Logan Eisner and grandson, Diego (Prado) Reilkoff. Jager and Logan spent many summers with Lorne and Gwen at their home at Madge Lake. They learned to swim at the Kamsack swimming pool, becoming accomplished swimmers.
Lorne will be lovingly remembered by brother Ron (Teena) of Portage la Prairie, sister in law Isabelle (Belle) Dosdall of Lloydminster, sister in law Joan of Ottawa, as well as nieces Tara Dosdall and her daughters Jaysa and Macy, Jana(David) Thompson, Treena Reilkoff, and her children, Telyn and Dryden, Tricia (Roger) Feere and their children Cole and Riley(Sarah) and their baby Abigail, nephews Ron Reilkoff Jr. (Thea) and their children, Avery, Alex and Axel, Michael Dosdall and Walker Dosdall.
Lorne was predeceased by his parents Alex and Lucy, parents’ in-law Frank and Margaret Dosdall, brother-in-law Ron Dosdall and brother-in-law Allan.
Lorne lived life to the fullest, he loved having people over to enjoy his shisliki (the best) and his favorite beer Pilsner was a hit with most of his buddies. He would often turn up the music of Roy Orbison and Franki Valli.
He loved to golf, often with his childhood friend Bill, and in the winter, he enjoyed ice fishing with his buddies Dave and Jim. Not many fish were caught but they didn’t seem to mind as they enjoyed drinking beer and listening to music.
In his younger years, Lorne was an excellent athlete and participated in many sports such as hockey, swimming, football, basketball, golfing and curling just to name a few. Lorne also spent many years coaching Rhett’s hockey and baseball teams and was also involved with coaching in school as a teacher. His former students have fond memories of some of his mannerisms, like practicing his golf swing with a yardstick at the back of the class.
Lorne and Gwen took many trips to the mountains for skiing, to various parts of Canada, two Caribbean cruises and a European river cruise. They also enjoyed going to Vancouver Island to visit Rhett and family.
Life was always an adventure with Lorne, and he will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.
