Nadia Reibin

Nadia Fay Reibin (nee Popoff) was born February 24th 1953 in Kamsack Saskatchewan and passed away peacefully on November 27th 2025 at the age of 72 in Yorkton Saskatchewan with loved ones by her side. Nadia was the second of 4 children, having one older sister and two younger brothers.

She graduated from the Kamsack Comprehensive Institute in 1971. During her high school years, she participated in volleyball and basketball, and later developed interests in curling, hunting, and fishing. Her career encompassed a broad range of roles, including entrepreneurship as the owner and operator of B&N Corner Mart in Veregin, over two decades with the Sunrise Health Region in various capacities, and lifelong involvement in farming.

Care giving was a big part of her life. From a young age, she helped look after her younger brothers. This early responsibility prepared her for the challenges ahead as she started her own family at a young age. She worked in health care for much of her career and cared for her parents during their final years. Her commitment to family was evident throughout her life, reflecting her dedication and strength.

Nadia was dedicated to community service, generously volunteering her time. She served on the Veregin Recreation Board in multiple positions and played a significant role in organizing annual Veregin dances and Shishliki Barbeques for many years.  As mayor and councillor of Veregin for nearly twenty years, she demonstrated consistent leadership. Additionally, she was a board director at Eaglestone Lodge in Kamsack and represented the Parkland Library on its board. Nadia taught Sunday school at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church for several years.

Her involvement extended to being secretary of Chapter 6 Parkland Organic Cooperative and serving as a board member for the Parkland Organic Crop Improvement Cooperative. She contributed significantly to the Doukhobor Museum and Heritage Day, assisting with activities such as baking and entertainment. Nadia supported many families through participation in funerals for loved ones.

Later in life, she became known locally for her alter ego “Katrina,” entertaining at various events including anniversaries, fundraisers, and social gatherings. She led efforts to renovate the Veregin community centre and brought the community together for perogy making and other various social events and suppers at the hall. She was a die-hard Riders fan and cheered loud and proud for them and attended games with various friends. She also loved to watch curling and cheer on her favorite hockey club.

Above all, family remained her priority. She was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, auntie and baba, ensuring that every holiday and birthday was marked with gifts, cards, and care packages for her children and grandchildren. Nadia possessed a strong will and expressed her desire to remain independent; she was able to fulfill this wish, spending time with her husband, family, and friends, staying in her home until her final day.

She is survived by her husband Barry Reibin, her children Sheldon (Tricia) Koenigbaur, Trent Koenigbaur, sister Irene (Eugene) Beck, brother Robert (Tammy) Popoff. Grandchildren Owen & Tia Koenigbaur, sister-in-law Bev Sookerokoff as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her parents Peter Popoff and Florence Popoff (Kazakoff), stepfather Jack Kazakoff, brother Gary Popoff, sister in-law Jeanine Popoff, niece Mackenzie Popoff and brother in-law Dave Sookerokoff.

A celebration of life will be held at the Veregin New Horizon Community Centre on May 30th, 2026 at 1pm followed by intermittent at the Veregin cemetery.
