Olga Achtemichuk Obituary

ACHTEMICHUK, Olga born March 2, 1936 to April 28, 202 aged 84 years.

Olga was born to Mike and Annie (nee Andrusiak) in Hampton, SK. She attended school in the Hampton district up to grade 3 then the family moved to Veregin, SK., where she finished grade 8 in Lynden Valley.  On October 10, 1954 she married Mike Achtemichuk and together they lived on their farm 5 miles south west of Kamsack.  She worked side by side her husband tending to the animals and working in their fields.  Mike and Olga loved to spend time with their children on the boat or at the beach at Madge Lake. Often in the summer they would pack up their van and go camping somewhere in Saskatchewan on Manitoba. In her early years she enjoyed playing bingo and go bowling with her friends.  She had a life full of laughter, she was never selfish and loved to help out others.  She was always thinking of her family and friends. She loved to make perogies, cabbage rolls and borcht; making sure that her children freezers were full of food.  Olga worked at the Kamsack Nursing Home as a dietary aide from 1978 – 2000.  She was a member of the Kamsack Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of Parkland Evangelical Free Church.  After, Mike passed away she found comfort and joy in her pet dog, Willie. 

Olga is survived by her four children Brian (Jasmine), David Kory, Valerie (Bob) Stevens grandchildren Michael (Kayla) and Robert (Kecia) great grandchildren Huxton and Petra, and Art (Pam) grandchildren Brenden and Brett sisters Mary, Dora (Pete) and Sylvia brothers Pete (Rose), Steve (Ann) and George (Theresa) former daughter-in-law Sandra and her children Morgan and Corey.

Olga is predeceased by her parents, brother John and brother-in-laws Steve Boychuk and Norman Lorenz.

Visitation was held on May 3, 2020 from the chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Kamsack, SK., funeral service was held May 5, 2020 from the chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Kamsack, SK., with Pastor Stephen Ruten officiating.  Interment was held at Riverview, Cemetery, Kamsack.  For those who wish to donate in memory of Olga they may do so to Kamsack Hospital Auxiliary.  To leave a note of condolence for the family please visit wolkowski.ca.
