Olga Rakochy Obituary

Olga Rakochy (nee Woloshyn) August 24, 1933 – May 18, 2022 entered into eternal rest at the Canora Hospital at the age of 88 years. Olga was the sixth child of John and Pearl Woloshyn (nee Caruk).  Born in 1933 on the farm in the Amsterdam District, she attended Gogal School while living with her parents on the farm and helping with numerous chores. Her early years were a typical prairie farm childhood for the times, going to school, helping around the farm, tending to gardens and her favorite, taking care of the various animals. In 1950 she was united in marriage to Ed Rakochy at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Canora.  One of her fondest memories is when they’d spend a few winter months in BC.  In 1955 they built the house on their farm 6 miles North of Canora and began what would be the rest of their life together.  During the way they were blessed with two children: Tom & Nettie and provided with a lifetime of memories with their family.   She stayed on the family farm until 2010, which was quite the feat considering her husband Ed had passed away in 1993. However, she decided to move to Canora where she would spend the rest of her days baking and cooking for her grandchildren, remaining active in the garden and staying involved in the church. Olga was a lifetime Ukrainian Catholic Church member – first in Antoniwka and later in Canora as well as a UCWL member. As stated, Olga was an avid gardener; she loved growing her flowers and tending to her vegetables. Never afraid of hard work and to get her hands dirty.  Her yard was always well looked after and garden full.  Olga lived a life many are striving for: a simple, wholesome, fulfilling life filled with the love of her family & God.

She leaves to mourn her mourn her passing; daughter; Nettie (Chris) Crowdis & daughter in law; Gina Rakochy, grandchildren Brian (Danielle) Rakochy, Jason (Shauna) Rakochy, Eden (Curtis) Senger & Alayna Crowdis, great-grandchildren; Thomas, Eva, Jacob & Bennett Rakochy.  Sister in laws; Mary Rakochy & Olga Kuzyk as well as numerous nieces & nephews.

She is predeceased by her father, John in 1956, mother, Pearl in 1985, husband Edward in 1993, and son Tom in 2011, sisters; Nettie, Wilma, Mary, Ann & Florence, and brother in laws; Frank, Ab & Paul.
