Patricia Shingoose

Obituary Image

Patricia Helen Shingoose (Patty “Momma Walton”) will be remembered by her caring and nurturing soul, her sense of humor and crazy antics. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart. We also can't forget to mention the love she had for her ol' stink dog 'Crackers'. She always made sure that her family knew they were loved and cherished. Her home was always filled with laughter and family. She was always willing to help anyone and known by all for her wonderful meals. She enjoyed cooking and baking; she was the best bannock baker around.  Everyone would always gather at her home for delicious meals. She loved to visit, play cards, and watch her soaps and game shows. She also enjoyed playing bingo and reading. She always had a pot of coffee on and something to eat. Patricia had a special way with children and was always able to rock her grandkids to sleep with her "Magic Pillow Arms". She passed this legacy on to all her children.
Patricia was born in Ontario but was raised in Thompson Manitoba. She graduated and became a Care Aid. Patricia travelled a lot and enjoyed many family trips. She met her first love, Norman and soon moved to Cote First Nation where she instantly became a loving second mother to his five children. Patricia and Norman than had two more children and moved to Yorkton. Following the death of her first love in 1980 Patricia and her seven children moved back to Thompson MB. She fell in love once more with Reginald in 1983. They had two more children. Patricia and Reginald married in December of 1989. Patricia lived in Thompson for several years and worked as a Dispatcher and driver. She moved her family to Saskatchewan for a few years than back to Thompson before moving to Yorkton in 1996. Patricia worked as a Dietary Aide at the Yorkton Regional Health Center. Sadly in 2017 Patricia was diagnosed with dementia which progressed very quickly and needed the assistance of a 24 hour care home. Patricia spent the remainder of her years in the Yorkton District Nursing Home (Skinner Unit). The staff described Patricia as the most wonderful and strongest mama they had ever met. She was also described as being blunt, strong-willed, and very humorous with a very strong heart.
Patricia's Legacy will live on through her Children, Grand Children and Great Grand children. Patricia taught us all the meaning of family and how important it is to love one another. Patricia will be missed dearly by everyone who knew and loved her.
