Pauline Dykun Obituary

On July 29, 2024 with family by her side, Pauline passed away peacefully at the Kamsack Hospital.
Pauline was born to Karl and Dora Prystay on July 12, 1937 at the Canora Hospital. She was the youngest of six children.
The family farmed north of Buchanan in the Olesha District, where Pauline attended the farm school four miles away.
In 1949, the family moved to Preeceville where Pauline enjoyed figure skating and instructing. After school she started her first job in Canora working in a restaurant for three years.
During a visit at her sister’s house in Arran, is where she first laid eyes on the love of her life, John Dykun. They were married on January 8, 1957 in Preeceville
After they were married they moved to Thunder Bay, ON for a brief time but returned to Pelly. After two years they moved to Meadow Lake where they lived for three years. Being homesick they decided to move back to Pelly.
In 1967 they bought their farm north of Pelly. They were blessed with three children; Janet, Murray and Kerry.
Pauline enjoyed nature and farm life, having a big garden and a yard full of flowers. She enjoyed picking berries, mushrooms, canning, baking and cooking. She was always looking for new recipes. She was always active in the community, always willing to help at teas and bingos.
Pauline was a true ray of sunshine with her bright smile warm kind hugs, she enjoyed meeting people and had a special magic with children. She was hard working, determined and amazing.
Left to cherish Pauline’s memory are son Murray, daughter Kerry (Dwayne) Pfeifer, grandson Mark Husak and great grandchildren Braxton and Pepper Husak. Her sister Anne Kinaschuk, many nieces and nephews and her beloved spoiled cat “Smiggy”.
Pauline was predeceased by her husband, John, daughter Janet and son in law Wayne Husak, her parents Karl and Dora Prystay, brother Michael (in infancy) brother Bill and twin sisters Helen Woicichowski and Stella Krochak.
