Phyllis Prochera
August 3, 2016PROCHERA – Phyllis Helen born April 16, 1943 – August 3, 2016, aged 73 years, she entered eternal rest at the Canora Hospital surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born to Patrick and Helen Gogal (Fesyk) in Canora and later attended a small country school near Crystal Lake. After school she worked in retail at Dan’s Grocerteria, Gateway Co-op and also waitressed at various restaurants in Canora. In 1962, Phyllis met Emil Prochera. She worked alongside him at the Lynn Hotel, she did the cooking and Emil ran the bar. On June 29, 1963 Phyllis and Emil were married. They were the first couple to get married at the new St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church. They were blessed with three children Bart, Nancy and Lorena. After leaving the hotel, she was employed at the Canora Liquor Board Store where she worked as assistant manager until she retired.
Throughout the years of working they were gifted with trips to Disneyland, Jamaica, Arizona and weekend trips to Saskatoon to visit family. Phyllis enjoyed sewing everything and anything she could for herself and others. She loved being in the garden and looking after all her beautiful flowers. In her spare time, she was cooking, baking, reading, visiting with relatives and spending any minute she could with the grandchildren and great grandchildren and their pets. She never refused pet sitting Baby the cat, Dorei the bird, Skoobie the dog and Bob the cat. She was a dedicated member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church and was a board member of CWL for many years. Phyllis was never scared to back down from any of life’s challenges. Her kind, sensitive and caring nature will always be remembered by those close to her. She will forever be in our hearts.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Emil, son Bart (Karen) their children; Bailey (John), Tate and Rylen, daughter Nancy (Lyndon) their children; Shane (Neha), great granddaughter Annabelle, Shadd, great grandson Aidyn, and Shale, daughter Lorena (Kim) their children; Autum (Thomas) Hailey, Kody and Halle. Brother Jim (Carol) Gogol, two sisters; Eleanore (James) Flundra and Diane Gogol, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Helen, brother Bobby in infancy, sisters Vivian and Mae.
Prayer Service was held on August 7, 2016 and Funeral Mass was held on August 8, 2016 both from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Canora, Sk., with a CWL Honour guard and Rev. Franklin Emereuwa officiating. Committal was held at Canora Cemetery, Canora. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church Building Fund.
