Raymond Fredrick Deederly
It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Raymond Fredrick Deederly say good-bye to their loved husband, father, grandfather on June 6, 2023 at the Kamsack Hospital. He leaves to mourn his wife Donna Deederly, his children Raymond Jr. and his wife Lindsay, their sons Liam and Mason, Erin and her husband Chris and their children Tristyn, Declan and Ryder, and Jamie and his wife Crystal and their children, Jesse, Kyle, Bayli and Matrik. Raymond was born May 30, 1952 at the Kamsack Union Hospital to Bill and Minnie Deederly of Togo, Saskatchewan. Raymond was the youngest of four (4) children. Raymond is predeceased by his youngest daughter Holly Deederly and his parents, Bill and Minnie Deederly.
Raymond farmed with his father at Togo SK his entire life. He attended the Alva school in the Togo district and, as he liked to tell us, walked to school up hill both ways as a little child. He completed grade 10 in Togo. He loved many things, some of those being horseback riding, hunting, baseball and cards. Anyone that knew him well knew what a card shark he was. If there was company, there was cards. It could sometimes be a very intense activity as some have reported leaving with very sore knees. He loved to curl in his younger days and that was where he and his Donna met.
Raymond and Donna were married on August 4, 1979 and that was when life on the farm became interesting by adding the extra load of starting a dairy on top of their mixed farm and they, along with their four (4) children Raymond Jr, Erin, Jamie and Holly worked along the farm with them. Raymond loved to work and was a very hard worker and even in retirement continued to worked various jobs. Many of his neighbors and friends can tell you his fencing skills were unsurpassed.
Raymond will be deeply missed by all of his extended family and many friends that he has made throughout his lifetime. Even his pets. If he was out for a walk, so were all the animals, dogs and cats included.
Raymond was described as a mountain of a man who was sadly brought down after a diagnosis of Colorectal Cancer in July of 2022. The family is forever grateful for the many caregivers throughout Raymond’s difficult journey these past months.
