Rosmarie Hausermann Obituary

A recording of the funeral will be posted at a later time.

Rosmarie Hausermann (nee Stauffer) was born to Walter and Marie Stauffer on June 9th 1937, in the sleepy village of Hallwil, Switzerland. The second eldest of four children (Walter, Hanny, and Lily) Rosmarie spent her youth in the idyllic Swiss alps listening to her mother tell stories as they did laundry, hiking in the woodlands with her father, and falling asleep to the buzzing of bees in her paternal grandfather, Gottleib’s “Bee Haus.” The horrors of the Second World War were not lost upon Rosmarie, as hunger, threat of bombardment, and invasion were common fears she lived with. After the war, Rosmarie traveled to Neuchatel, Switzerland as a hostess and nanny, honing her culinary skills.

Rosmarie’s life was forever changed when she noticed a tall man working on a job site, with thick auburn hair that was matched with that of his eyes that she fell in love with. It took only three months, and she knew Arnold Hausermann would be her soulmate forever. They would marry on September 29th1956.

Arnold had spent some time working as a bricklayer in Canada and wanted a fresh start for his family. The 19-year-old Rosmarie who was pregnant, immigrated to Canada with Arnold and his brother Oskar and was propelled into a new and alien land. Her isolation in Kamsack, Saskatchewan while the men were away working, weighed heavily on her, so she asked if her sister Hanny would come, the two would spend almost every day together thereafter. Moving to her forever home of the Hausermann farm in 1974, Rosmarie worked with Arnold and her family to create a home for any who came by, no one was refused at her table. When Arnold was away working, either bricklaying or trapping, she took care of both house and farm.

Arnold’s diagnoses with Parkinson’s changed his life drastically but it would never change the love they had for each other, and she did whatever she could to help him in the final years of his life. Rosmarie would lose her closest friend and soulmate on May 10th 2019. While she always kept her composure to the best of her abilities, this affected her drastically and in the quiet hours she would miss him dearly.

Rosmarie spent her final years, weeks, and days, doing what she always did; put others before herself, being a person that anyone could talk to, being a host, friend, confidante. She would pass away on January 20th 2026, on her beloved farm. Rosmarie Hausermann was a kind, humble, and loving person. She faced hardships and tragedy throughout her life but never changed who she was. Her love for humanity, and animals was evident in every moment she lived, every person she made feel special, everyone she provided a home to, every animal she comforted, every flower she planted.

In her final moments. Upon the silent farm, that bore echoes of memory, of time and of progress, she missed the household of people, she reminisced on coffee with Hanny, on sitting in her chesterfield with her tea and beloved Zita, and she missed holding Arnolds’s hand. She is finally reunited with him. She is finally home. Rosmarie is predeceased by her husband, Arnold Hausermann. Parents, Walter Sr. and Marie Stauffer. Her siblings, Walter Jr and Lily Stauffer, her son-in-law, Daniel Scherrer, and her grandson, Adam Jacob Bodnaryk. Rosmarie leaves to cherish and mourn her sister Hanny. Her children Ernest (Lisa) Hausermann, Ruth Scherrer, Susanne (Wayne) Mitchell, Ursula (Karl) Schiffer, Jacqueline (Kelly) Hausermann, Daniel (Paula) Hausermann.

Her Grandchildren: Taylor, Mason, Benjamin, Ricarda, Gregory, Jonathon, Amanda, Matthew, Stephanie, Adrianna, Michael, Markus, Leah and Livie, and her great-grandchildren: Kenzie, Ryder, Lexi, Maverick, Carter, Easton, Lena, Emilia, Lucia, and Andrzej.
