Rudolph (Rudy) Barabash Obituary

Due to Covid19 restrictions, private services are being held.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Rudy Barabash, at age 88 years, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Rudy was born in Wabowden, Manitoba. He spent his young years on the farm near Rhein, Saskatchewan. In his early twenties he worked for the railroad in Kamsack at the Roundhouse. He moved to Edmonton with his young family in 1959 to work as an automobile mechanic after the Kamsack roundhouse closed. He returned to Kamsack in 1964 after the death of his first wife, Lena (nee Kerluke). Rudy married Lorraine Sansom in 1966 and together raised three children in Kamsack. Rudy loved working on any type of engine, fixing things, fishing, camping, and hunting. After retiring he took courses in computer repairs, kept busy reading, fixing things, and gardening, including playing guitar again. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and has passed on the “fixing” trait to them. In 2018, Rudy and Lorraine moved to Regina to be closer to his sons and grandchildren.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife Lorraine (nee Sansom) of 54 years; daughter Elodie Kutarna; son Leon; son Jonathan (Yvonne); grandchildren Samantha Barabash, Cheryl Barabash, Alexis Kutarna (James Jaeger), Matthew (Agnes) Kutarna, Joshua and Noah Barabash, and 6 great grandchildren; Cecilia and Genevieve Jaeger, and Jacob, Ambrose, Jacinta, and Augustine Kutarna.

Rudy is predeceased by his parents Roman and Molly Barabash (nee Klewchuk) and brother Walter.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Thank you to the nurses and doctors at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina for the wonderful care they gave dad.

Those who so desire, may make memorial donations in Rudy’s memory, to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, Rudy will be interred at Riverview Cemetery, Kamsack and a family celebration of his life, will be held at a later date.
