Stephanie Elizabeth Hudye (Pelechaty) was born May 9, 1935 to Mike and Mary (Podolski) at the family farm in St. Philips District. She passed away peacefully at the Kamsack District Nursing Home on Sunday, August 27, 2023 with her family by her side.
She was educated at St. Bascil School in St. Philips District. She married Laurence Hudye on February 21, 1952 at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Kamsack.
Stephanie and Laurence lived in a few different places over the years, like Kamsack, Pelly, Regina and Milestone where mom would be working at different restaurants cooking her delicious meals, raising a family and looking after dad. Some of her own restaurants she operated were Pelly Café, The Hut and Steph’s Nook. When mom finally did retire, she would spend time making her famous perogies and cabbage rolls to sell.
Predeceased by her husband Laurence; son Lorne; grandson Geoffrey; great-grandson Barret Nagel; father Mike and mother Mary; Sisters Virgina, Anne and Dilly; father-in-Law, Joe and mother-in-law Anne; brother-in-law’s Paul, Brian, Gerald, Albert and Alex; sister-in-law’s, Victoria and Shirley; nieces Crystal, Shirley and Judy; nephews Kenny, Robert and Kurt.
Stephanie is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Brown (Reg Finch), Anna-Marie (Ken) West; four sons Lyle, Steven (Julie), Danny (Holly) and Michael (Kim). Stephanie’s memory will live on through her grandchildren Chris (Miriam) Hudye, Dawn Johnson, Dean (Alicia) Hudye, Kurtis West, Nicole (David) Lakeman, Jesse (Shannon) Hudye, Craig (Kristy) Hudye, Courtney (Ryan) Hay, Justin Hudye, Taylor (Matthew Niessen) Hudye, Teddy Hudye; 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters Lavina, Iris (Vern), Valarie (Gerald), sister-in-law’s Gloria (Ed) and Marie, and many more extended family.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 am from St. Josphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church with Father Ivan officiating. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Kamsack. Donation in Memory of Stephania may be made to Kamsack Nursing Home Auxillary.
