Teresa Paluck Obituary

Teresa (Terry) Margorie Paluck (nee Off) was born February 20, 1935 to Remi and Amelia (Betz) Off.  They lived on a farm located between Kamsack and Pelly.  Terry was the youngest of nine children born to Remi and Amelia.  She attended Devonshire School for 8 years and then continued her education at boarding school in Yorkton at Sacred Heart.
Terry loved school and planned to be a nurse or a teacher, typical professions available for women in the late 1940’s.  We have pictures of Terry as a happy, exuberant teenager – lifting her skirt to flash her knee at the camera, loving life and school.  She was elected Class President at Sacred Heart.   Unfortunately for the family, Amelia, her mother, was diagnosed with cancer shortly after Terry started Grade 11.  She promptly quit school to look after her mother.  After her mother’s passing, she stayed on the farm to run the house and look after her father and brothers.  Remi did not want her to give up the education she loved so much, but Terry insisted.
When she was 17 she met Walter Paluck at one of the area country dances.  They were married on November 6, 1953 when Terry was 18.  They settled on a farm in the St Philips area.  Walter and Terry had five children, Derrick, Carson, Karen, Don, and Patty.  Terry’s work ethic could not be rivaled.  Along with doing all of the cooking and cleaning for a family of 7, she had a huge garden, and through summer field work months, also looked after the yard animals, including milking six cows. As busy as she was looking after the family and yard, she still took the time to enjoy beauty by having a huge flower garden. She loved playing cards, knitting, sewing and gardening. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church.
Terry is survived by one sister, Irene Seitz, and 4 of her children, Derrick (Liz), Karen (Bob), Don, Patty (Terry), 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.    She was a caring, loving mother and grandmother who will be missed.
