Valerie Winand

     WINAND, Valerie Ruth born December 26, 1947 to December 8, 2016 aged 68 years. Val passed away at Canora Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

     Val was born in Crailsheim, Germany to parents, Walter and Anna Lysenko (nee Partasonak).  Val came to Canada in 1952 and resided with her family in Nakina, Ont.  Wilf and Val met in Ontario and on March 15, 1965 they were married; and together they raised three children. 

     Val was active within the community, she be longed to CASARA as a trained volunteer with Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, Canora Common Thread group and in the past to the Yorkton Quilting Guild group and was also a very proficient seamstress.  She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, music, baking, camping and flowers.  Val fun loving personality and her infectious, boisterous laugh will be missed. She was a gentle and kind, loved animals and especially loved all of her family and grandchildren.

     Val is survived by her husband of 51 years Wilf, daughter Audra, and son Keith, son-in-law, Terry Bleier grandchildren; Paige, Caitlyn, Cody and Britney aunts, Mary Nordick, Amelia (Bugs) Henderks, and Angeline Reiter and many nieces, nephews and friends. She is predeceased by her parents; Walter and Anna Lysenko and daughter, Carolyn and sister, Laurie Goodman.

     Memorial Service was held on December 17, 2016 at the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Canora, SK. with Thom Carnahan officiating. To leave a note of condolence for the family, please visit Wolkowski.ca
