Victoria (Vicky) West

     On December 8th, 2016, with family by her side, Victoria West, aged 79 years old, earned her wings at the Regina General Hospital.

     Vicky was the 10th child of 15, born to the late Alex and Rose (Turta) Hubic on the family farm in Melmore District.  This is where she also grew up and attended school.  It wasn’t long before Vicky found the love of her life, Ellis West, from the Maloneck District.  They married in 1956 and were blessed with three children; Ken, Gail, and Della.  The family spent many years living on the West family farm, in the Maloneck District.  In 1980, Ellis and Vicky became residents of Pelly.  Vicky remained in Pelly after the death of Ellis in 1988, until the fall of 2015 when she moved to Moosomin, Sask., where her daughter Della lives.  Vicky was fortunate to find true love twice in her lifetime, as she spent many wonderful years with John (Debolt).  The two enjoyed travelling and spent numerous winters in Weslaco, Texas.  Vicky loved travelling and meeting new friends, but she was always happy to come back home!

     Her family and friends were always her first priority; she loved having them around and spending time with them, and always said her children and grandchildren were her prized possessions. 

     It was well known that Vicky was a very strong willed, independent woman– a role model to the women in her family.  She lived life to the fullest, and for the most part didn’t let her health get her down.  Even when in the hospital, she always found something to smile about, and shared her humor with those around her.  Vicky was also involved in many community events, and loved being around others.  Vicky found her favorite job where she volunteered to clown; she could sing, dance, laugh, and make others smile.  It was the perfect job for her.

     Vicky is survived by her partner John and her children; son Ken (Anna), daughters Gail (Dave) and Della (Vern).  Six grand-children; Kurt, Andrea (Jesse), Jordan (Adisa), Nicole (David), Torri (Blake), and Austin, and two great-grandchildren, Nola and Wyatt, along with her furry companion, Roxy.  Her sisters, Olga, Anita, Irene (Howard), Ella, and Minnie (Bob).  Her brothers, Orest(Alicia), Ron (Dorothy), Dan (Phyllis), and Mervin (Kay).  Sister– in-laws Alice and Violet Hubic, Fay Rezansoff and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Vicky is predeceased by: her parents Alex and Rose, her husband Ellis, her mother and father-in-law Jack and Alice West.  Sister Adeline, and brothers; Russel, Eugene, Nester and Alexander.  Sisters-in-laws Adeline (Yaworsky) Hubic, Sally (Nahnybida) Hubic, Dorothy (Getty) West and brother-in-laws; Glen, Alfred, Keith West, Earl and Roy Schow, Johnny Rezansoff and Walter Kowch.

     A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Pelly Community Hall. Pelly, SK. with Velda Dahlin officiating interment to follow at Maloneck Cemetery, Pelly District.  Memorial donations may be made in Vicky’s name to the Maloneck Cemetery Fund.
