Winnifred "Winnie" Koroluk Obituary

Koroluk:  Winnifred Ann 1930-2026 age 96 years

Winnifred (Winnie) Koroluk was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan to Stanley Arthur King and Ethel Jane (Smoot) King on May 28, 1930. She peacefully passed away in the company of family members on July 4, 2026, in Kamsack.

She grew up in Togo as a child of the Great Depression and lived in the station house there, where her father was section foreman for the Canadian National Railway.  She was educated in the Togo School and upon graduation moved to Kamsack to join the mail order department of T.F. Eaton and Co. She later served as jail matron for the Kamsack jail.

Winnie married Demetrias (Metro) Koroluk on May 6, 1950, in the Anglican Church in Togo. Their vows were again exchanged in a Ukrainian style wedding at a later date. Their marriage was blessed by three sons: Robert, born 1952, Jeffrey, born 1954 (deceased 2015), and Stanley, born 1962.

She was a lifelong resident of Kamsack and Madge Lake, residing in Davies Towers for 18 years and in Eaglestone Lodge at the time of her passing.

Over many years, Winnie served her community through a variety of organizations, including the Kamsack Arts Council, the Cancer Self-Help Group and the Kamsack branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, where she served as a volunteer and an officer for 75 years.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Gordon King and Ken King, her husband Metro and their son, Jeffrey.

Winnie is survived by her son, Bob (Phoebe), and her children, Robin Friesen (Colin), Cathy Simmans (Mike Nepton) and Gregory Simmans; daughter in law Colleen Koroluk and Jeff and Colleen’s children, Devon and Natasha (Ravinder Thakur); son Stanley (Tammie) and their children, Katherine, Hayden and Jillian.

She is also survived by her sisters (Nelda) Maxine Lindsay, (Mary) Jean Styranko and Sheila Hafenbrak along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral service for Winnifred King Koroluk will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Kamsack. A reception will follow in the Kamsack Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 324 Second St., Kamsack.  All arrangements are under the direction of Wolkoski Funeral Service of Kamsack.
