Woodson was born on April 25, 1955 to parents Mervin Cote and Stella Severight on Cote First Nation, Saskatchewan. He spend the first 20 years of his life at Cote, he then moved to Regina for the last 40 years. Woodson liked to watch his favorite hockey team Edmonton Oilers and baseball. Woodson was a traditional man who enjoyed playing the drums.
Woodson is survived by his son Dylan, sister Freezen Johnston (Gene Shingoose), as well as other extended family members.
He is predeceased by his parents, wife Valarie and 13 brothers and sisters.
