Pohozoff, Fred – May 4, 1927 – October 7, 2015, aged 88 years, passed away peacefully at the Kamsack Hospital with his loving wife, Florence at his side. Fred grew up in the Veregin area with grain farming as his main career. Farming a half section of land kept him quite busy, but still managed to find time to help the neighbors when they needed it. Fred married Florence Hadiken on December 30th, 1952 and moved to the farm homestead after they had their son Frank. Fred was on the board of Directors for the National Doukhobor Heritage Village and provided many hours of service whether it was explaining to tourists the everyday operation of the Village or many of the historical facts about the Doukhobors in general.  His passion was music and enjoyed singing with the choir every chance he could. At home he would practice guitar, accordion, piano, and of course, the traditional Balalaika which made it’s way across the seas from Russia. He provided for his Wife and Son the best he could and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.

Fred is survived by his loving wife Florence and by one son Frank (Barb).

He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Anna, brother Pete, and by sisters Polly and Mabel.

Funeral Services were held October 13, 2015 from the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service – Kamsack, with John J. Trofimenkoff officiating. Interment followed at the Veregin Cemetery – Veregin. Friend who so desire may make memorial donations to the National Doukhobor Heritage Village – Veregin, in memory of Fred. To leave a note of condolence for the family, please visit Wolkowski.ca
