HARPER, Herbert (Herb) Frank - April 14, 1937 – October 9, 2016 aged 79 years.  Herb was born in Togo, Sk., and was the second child born to Herbert William and Catherine Mildred Harper (nee Butt).  He attended Mylor School, a country school northeast of the family farm. He completed grade 7 and at the age of 14 then started helping his mom and dad on the family farm.

On September 16, 1961, he married the love of his life Martha Strom.  Together they raised five children Edith, Karen, Patricia, Norma and William.  They weren’t only blessed with raising their own family but had the opportunity to help raise their grandchildren, Caitlyn, Morgan and Brayden, after the passing of their daughter Edith.  Grandchildren held a special place in Dad’s heart, the next generation.  When Jax was born that meant the next generation of Harper continues.  Family was everything to our dad his only wish was “That we’d all get along”.

Herb worked in a bush camp in Pine Falls, Mb. for five winters, and drove school bus before becoming a dedicated full time farmer.  In his spare time he was on the Togo School Board (4 years), Togo Credit Union (30 years), R.M. of Cote councillor (30 years), Reeve (4 years), Togo Farmers Curling Club (35 years), Eaglestone Lodge Board (7 years) and a member of the Elks Lodge from 1961 till closing.

Left to rejoice in his life but mourn his passing are his daughters; Karen (Edwin), Patricia, Norma (Brian) and son William (Cherie), grandchildren; Kathleen (Chris), Amanda, Caitlyn, Morgan, Brayden, Jherico, Jax, and Kaylie sisters; Elizabeth (Johnny), Valerie (Leo) and Gwen, brother, Alvin.

Herb is predeceased by his wife Martha, who passed away in April, together they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage in September, daughter Edith, parents Herbert W. Sr. and Mildred Harper, older sister Edith and infant baby Harper.

Funeral Service was held on October 14, 2016 at Westminister Memorial United Church, Kamsack with Rev. Nancy Brunt officiating.  Interment was held at Togo Community Cemetery, Togo, SK., Those so wishing may make memorial donations to Togo Community Cemetery, Box 107, Togo, SK., S0A 4E0 as token of remembrance.
