Popoff, Jeannine Lynn – November 11, 1970 – February 17, 2015, aged 44 years passed away peacefully at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon with her family at her side.

Jeannine Lynn Zolkavich was born at City Hospital in Saskatoon to Joe and Paulette Zolkavich (nee Chadney). She attended Boughton School in Saskatoon, Pike Lake School, and high school in Delisle where she graduated from in 1988. She took piano and skating lessons for several years. After graduation she attended Saskatoon Business College. She paid her way by scooping ice cream and working at a craft store.

While living in Saskatoon with roommates Trent and her brother Kal, she met Gary Popoff through Kal – both worked for Yankee Transport. Gary moved back to the farm near Veregin and Jeannine eventually followed him. They married in July of 1992. They raised two beautiful girls Mackenzie, who arrived in 1994 and Karissa, in 1996. She became the receptionist at The Works and when the girls were pre-school age, Jeannine cared for the Hunter girls and Wishnevetski boys in their home at the farm. She loved those kids as her own. She then took the online Educational Assistant course and worked 10 years at KCI and these past two years at Victoria School – a dedicated and loving professional who embodied the school division motto of Students Come First and made a difference in lives of many children, their families, and colleagues.

Jeannine is survived by her daughter Karissa, her partner Clayton; parents Joe and Paulette, sister Shellene, nephew Dillon; brother Kal & fiancée Monique Simonot; mother-in-law Florence, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jeannine is predeceased by her daughter Mackenzie, husband Gary, father-in-law Jack Kazakoff, maternal Uncle Garry Chadney, cousin James Derenowski, aunt Marilyn and uncle Jerry Zolkavich.

After Gary’s passing, life changed drastically. Jeannine discovered new interests with Clayton and she transformed from being a clean freak homebody to someone who enjoyed playing in the mud on the quad, setting out decoys and sitting in blinds to hunt ducks, moose, and elk. She was so proud of the moose she shot!

Jeannine, your heart was a place where angels sang. You will be forever missed.

Eternal Memory.

Funeral Service was held February 21, 2015 from the OCC Hall in Kamsack with Rev. Catherine Pace officiating. Interment followed at the Veregin Cemetery. Friends who so wish may make a memorial contribution to an educational trust fund for Karissa, established at the Affinity Credit Union – Kamsack Branch as tokens of remembrance.
