Planedin, Nick – July 3, 1935 – September 13, 2016 entered eternal rest at the Kamsack Hospital, with his family at his side, at the age of 81 years. Nick was born in Benito, Manitoba to Fred and Irene Planedin (nee Legebokoff). They farmed on Thunder Hill till he was years old then they moved to St. Catherine’s, Ontario for a few years, but later returned to Saskatchewan and continued farming on Thunder Hill. Nick Attended Thunder Bird School till grade 8 and later farmed on Thunder Hill for several years. Nick got married to Diana Markin in 1957, and together they raised 3 sons; Don, Larry, and Ken. Later on they bought land near Whitebeech, Saskatchewan and farmed until 1968. After several crop failures they started working in Arran School. While farming, they had horses, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens and a few goats. They milked as many as 14 cows and sold cream and butter. In 1973, they moved to Kamsack and worked at Victoria School for 3 years. After that, Nick started working for the Town of Kamsack.    After some health issues, he retired in 1989.

Nick also liked to do some carpentry work, making ice fishing shacks for the boys or anything that needed fixing he would repair. He did some welding, and was sort of a “jack of all” trades. He enjoyed hunting when he lived on the farm. He loved sports. Nick had to have all the sports channels on T.V. Together Nick and Diana did allot of camping and fishing. He would spend hours upon hours on the boat, sometimes coming home with no fish. He always packed a lunch on the lake. He also spent allot of time ice-fishing. Every summer he always had to have a “summer bbq party”, inviting family and friends. Nick loved to be with people and visit. He spent a lot of time with his grandchildren. He built them a play house when they were small. Jesse and Megan spent many a weekend over at grandma and grandpa’s. Alison was a big help babysitting. When all the grandchildren got bigger, he bought a quad to go on rides but of course grandma had to go too! Nick enjoyed playing the guitar and sing. In 2011, they moved to Davies’ Tower as it was getting difficult to look after the yard.

Nick is survived by his loving wife of 59 years of marriage, Diana, Sons; Don (Joan), Larry (Norma), Ken (Colleen), grandchildren; Alison, Jesse, Megan, great granddaughter, Jovie and by five nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents Fred and Irene, brother; Fred, Lawrence (in infancy) and Walter.
