Arnold Lesser

LESSER, Arnold David born October 9, 1934 to June 9, 2018 aged 83 years.  It is with great sadness that the family of Arnold David Lesser announce his passing.

     Arnold married Emily on March 4, 1963 in Kamsack, SK.  They had a son named Darrell 6 years later in 1969.  He and Darrell would go ice fishing in the winter. Both Emily and Arnold had beautiful gardens.  He had numerous bird feeders and hummingbird feeders on the farm and would tend to his flower garden filled with a variety of perennials. He took great pride in his well-manicured lawn and yard site. His biggest passion was his farm and he loved the outdoors.

     He resided in numerous places throughout the 30 years he was employed by the government of Saskatchewan in the Department of Natural Resources.  He was transferred to his final posting in Hudson Bay, SK. in 1971.  He retired from the DNR in 1987, and worked for Dale Sprackman Logging Company until 2001.  All the while, he farmed at the family farm near Kamsack, SK. from the age of 19 years old.  He would work at a provincial park during the week, and on the farm on weekends and holidays. 

     Arnold had a hand in constructing or supervising the construction of many of the Provincial Parks in Saskatchewan that you may visit. Arnold built roads, campgrounds, ski hills, golf courses and buildings in parks such as Greenwater Park, Kenosee, Duck Mountain, Fort Qu’Appelle, and many others.

     Arnold is predeceased by his parents Mary and David, brother Milbert, twin brothers Lloyd and Lawrence, and his sister Shirley.

     Arnold is survived by his wife Emily of Hudson Bay, SK, his son Darrell (Sherry) of Lintlaw, and his one granddaughter Michaela of Saskatoon. 

     The family wishes to thank the staff at both the Kamsack Hospital and the Kamsack Nursing Home for the care he received while at the facility, Reverend Kevin Sprong, the staff at Wolkowski Funeral Home, all the pallbearers, and all of you who were touched by Arnold’s kindness and generosity. 

Visitation was held June 18, 2017 at the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Kamsack. Gravesdie Service was held June 19, 2018 from Riverview Cemetery Kamsack, with Rev. Kevin Sprong officiating.
