Maria Tardy

     With heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother, Maria.  She was born on a farm on August 22, 1927 to Albert and Gazella Putters in Buren, Netherlands.  She had five brothers and 2 sisters.  She married Hermanus (Harry) Tardy in 1947.  At the age of 26 she and her husband immigrated to Canada with two young children in March 1953.  They came to a farm outside of Veregin, then moved to Kamsack.  Later, they moved to Foamlake, SK. where they ran a restaurant till 1963. They moved to Kamsack to help in the bakery.  From there they set up their own bakery business – Windmill Bakery.  Maria enjoyed knitting, cards, bingo plus going fishing with her husband.  
     She is predeceased by her husband Harry in 2011, her parents, five brothers, two sisters, four sister-in-law’s and two brother-in-law’s and one grandchild Jason Tardy.
     She is survived by her daughter Jackie (Percy) Statkewich, son Gerrit (Connie) Tardy, three grandchildren Kevin Tardy, David Statkewich, Karin (Nathan) Bugiera, four great grandchildren Kalia Tardy, Aubree, Owen and Isaac Bugiera, One sister-in-law Connie Putters from Chaltan, Ont.
