Mary Owchar Obituary

Owchar, Mary – August 10, 1934 – November 4, 2021 entered into eternal rest at the age of 87 years.

With deep sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, Mary.

Mom was born the oldest daughter of Louis and Frances Betz (nee Buchberger) of the St. Philips District. She attended St. Basillin School. On April 27, 1954 she married Joe Owchar and they took up residence in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. In 1965, they purchased their farm south of Pelly, where she resided until her sudden passing. Mom was very devoted to her family and to her religion. She loved volunteering at her church and for any other organization that needed help. She always enjoyed meeting with her friends for tea and socializing. Mom was blessed with good health and at the age of 87, she was still very meticulous with her house and yard.

Left to mourn her passing and honour her life are daughters; Kathy (Lloyd) Fissel, Karen (Merv) Shabatowski; grandchildren Stacey (Rick) Fortner, Rick Fissel, Kelly (Jeff) Nahorniak, Jackie (Perry) Faul, great grandchildren; Zoey, Owen, Maci, Ainsley and by 2 sisters; Betty Clarkson and Pat Dave (Coats).

Mom is predeceased by her parents Louis and Frances Betz, husband Joe and son Larry.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, November 12 from St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church, Kamsack with Very Rev Joseph Kuruvilla, MST officiating. Interment followed at Riverview Cemetery. Friends who so desire may make memorial contributions to St. Philip’s Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund, St. Philips as gifts in memory of Mary.
