Broda, Michael – November 25, 1927 – December 30, 2020, aged 93 years, our Tato and Gedo, peacefully entered eternal rest, as he went to meet his Creator, his beloved Anna, and his deceased children.

Mike was born to parents John and Mary Broda, in the village of Vypyski in the oblast of Lviv, Ukraine.  He married Anna Shozda in May 1950.  In May 1957, dad and his family moved to Poland, to start the immigration proceedings to come and live in Canada.  Mike, Anna and their three young children arrived at his father’s farm near Kamsack, SK., in May 1960.  The following spring, Mike started farming, which he continued to do until he retired in 1993.  He enjoyed farming and during retirement, he took many drives around the countryside to inspect crops and take in the scenery.   Dad and Mom were very fortunate to travel to Ukraine in 1993, to visit their many relatives and friends.

We are so grateful that Dad and Mom brought their young family to a new country, with all its opportunities and challenges, to create a better life for us.  They provided many lessons especially the value of hard work, perseverance, love of family and appreciation for the simple things of life.

Dad is survived by his daughter Sylvia (Jim) Graham, grandsons Ryan (Nina), great granddaughters Nola, Nell and Isla; grandson Scott (Caitlin), great granddaughters Alexandra and Chloe; grandsons David (Victoria), Kevin (Katie), Adam (Abril), his daughter Marie (Ken) Lakhram,  grandchildren Nicole and Evan; his son Stan (Nicole), grandson Andrew; grandsons Matthew (Katrina), twin great grandsons Liam and Lachlan; grandsons Justin Broda (Lora),  Jared Broda (Jade).

Mike was predeceased by his mother Mary (1934), his father John (1967), his wife Anna (1998), infant daughter Mary (1952), son John (1979) and son Steve (2016).

The family extends heartfelt thanks to staff at Eaglestone Lodge where Mike resided for several years. Very special thanks go to staff of the Kamsack Nursing Home where he enjoyed many outings and activities, especially shuffleboard and fly swatter volleyball.  Dad’s farewell words to anyone leaving to travel home after visiting were “Lucky trip.” May each of us have many “lucky trips” in our lives.
