Obetkoff, Paul William born November 14, 1938 - April 23, 2019 aged 80 years.
Paul was born to parents William and Pearl Abetkoff in the Prairie Queen District, SK. Paul attended school in Kamsack, during high school he worked at MacLeods Hardware Store and played the drums in a band “The Little Elvis and The Rhythm Bops”. He met the love of his life; Hazel. In 1960, they were married at the Westminster Memorial United Church in Kamsack. They later moved to Kelvington then to Weyburn.
Paul and Hazel both loved camping, fishing, gardening and loved playing music together. In 1982, Paul and Hazel owned and operated the Over Flowing River Lodge, 90 miles north of Swan River, MB. After selling the lodge, Paul and Hazel retired in Preeceville later moving to Kamsack.
Paul also enjoyed many friends online as his love for amateur radio, where under the “VE5 PW0” call letters took him to friends all over the world.
Paul will be missed by his brother Bill (Aleta) Abetkoff of Kelowna, BC., niece’s Melaine Abetkoff of Victoria,BC., and Shelley Abetkoff of Langley, BC., nephew Jason Abetkoff of Kelowna, BC., Zachery, Holly and Chad Ferguson of Kelowna, BC – grand and great grandchildren of Bill and Aleta., sister-in-law Rosella Derin, nephew Brant (Carrie) Derin, great nieces Skylar and Jayden Russell (Twila) and great niece Kyra Antonio
He was predeceased parents, William and Pearl, his wife Hazel in 2017.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service - Kamsack. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery.
